Avatar was Impressive...

First off, its a very good film. I saw it last week, I know I am probably the last person in the world to see the bloody thing lol. One thing after another has come up and ruined me going to see it, but I finally got to :D.

Visually one of the best looking films I have ever seen Especially because of the 3D. The first 3D film I saw was 'My Bloody Valentine' which was HORRIBLE. Difference between this and that was, 'My Bloody Valentine' was a crap film which was in 3D to make people wanna see it, where as in Avatar it was an excellent added bonus that added to the film.

I nearly didn't bother with seeing it in 3D because of my previous experience. I thought I would just see the occasional thing come out of the screen, but in this film it goes in for a piece and out for a piece. The depth it gives you is just incredible...Pandora is such an amazing place, it kind of feels like you have been there with the 3D visuals. One scene in the Pandora greenland sees Jake's (main guy) avatar attacked by some toothy creatures only to be saved by native Na'vi Neytiri (The hottie)). This scene was the most visually striking: at night, the Pandora jungles glow with a striking neon hue. It looks stunning in 3D, kinda freaky also. Its the one time I didn't wanna be in the jungle with the crazy animals.

Story Wise? Hmmmm...pretty good, only problem is you can see exactly where the film is in going from 30 or so minutes in. It's still enthralling though and still keeps you interested. The action is just epic, the scale is insane, when you actually realise how huge *pause* the avatars actually are. I don't think enough was done to make the audience care about the Na'vi (the natives), so when it all went pete tong for them, I didn't care enough about them.

So did it live up to the hype? Not really, defo a good film, but besides the visuals its not THAT special in my eyes.

Rating: 7.5/10
